On first encountering Carl Redling and Pete Gannon, it is hard to imagine that the two had only just met. Sitting at a table in the back of the Wharf Bar and Grill in New York City, the two men are surrounded by black sweatshirts with the giant gold Greek letters ΣΔΦ and black football jerseys with the name “Sigma Delta Phi” written across the chest in the same gold lettering. Water Polo Ladies

Lady Gaels clinch second consecutive MAAC Championship

This past weekend the Iona college women’s Water Polo team traveled to Poughkeepsie, NY to defend their MAAC Championship title. The Gaels boasted an impressive 11-1 record as they were named regular season champs. Senior Cecilia Leonard and Sophomore Amy Olsen were named First Team All-MAAC and senior Mackenzie Mone was named All Second Team prior to the tournament. Full story

Greek tragedy in Romita: 'Antigone' review

This semester the department of fine and performing arts produced Jean Anouih’s adaptation of Sophocles’ “Antigone.” Running from April 19 to 22 in the Romita Auditorium, the play was just over an hour long. The play began with the sounds of an ominous cello filling the auditorium with an ill-fated unease. Full story
